School Field Trips

What could be better than getting your students out of the classroom and teaching them Mississippi history hands-on?

Bring your classes out to the historical Beauvoir property.  We are able to accommodate both large and small field trips on our 52 acres.  During their field trip, the students will learn a number of things.  For instance, they will learn about architecture and how homes were built to accommodate the lack of modern luxuries, the daily lives of soldiers and families during the 19th century, the life of Jefferson Davis - from his career as a soldier until his death, taking Beauvoir from a private residence to a Veteran's Home.

Our museum also holds tools to teach the students about military history dating back to the American Revolution and hosts weapons from the Civil War era, a time in which mass production of weapons was in its infancy.

We encourage our field trips to bring their lunch and enjoy a picnic under our majestic oak trees.
